ode to buggin out
originally delivered by eleanor lepisma at the grand opening of the bugzone literary institute
a friend to hug! a life so snug!
such are the glories of being a bug
to flit freely from petal to leaf
to fly with wings that grant sight of a world beneath!
by way of antennae all searches are swift
yea, to be a bug is truly a gift!
.
a life so neat, a life that can't be beat!
by spine and by legs our bugification is complete
only bugs are endowed with such glorious features
and so, to bug out is to be the envy of all creatures
.
but woe! o, woe to the worm!
that dastardly creature forced to wriggle and squirm
a beast without spine, legs, or feet!
yea, the lowly worm is feature-incomplete
forced forever into a life of dull toil
knowing not of sky and leaf; knowing only of soil
.
so praise, praise to buggin' out!
a glorious gift, of this there is no doubt
praise to our spine, our wings, and legs!
which bring us aloft - above the wormish dregs
the word is known, the secret is out
so take heed, dear reader, for it is time to bug out!
